A new health club
has recently opened in Ocala, FL offering cheap ($10 a month
membership fees) as a marketing tactic to lure unsuspecting and
inexperienced individuals into their gym. The sad part is that
the staff is not knowledgeable about fitness and nutrition.
Many people join the club to try and deal with health and weight
issues, but the customer appreciation day each month consists of
Danishes and bagels with cream cheese. Of course, what would
you expect from staff seen frequently eating pizza and McDonald's in
offices with windows and behind the sign in counter itself.
In addition, the staff is incompetent
and make administrative errors, such as, canceling a membership for
a gym patron in good standing by entering the incorrect number
leading to the cancellation of the member without their knowledge
until they walk in the gym. When told they would contact
corporate to rectify the problem they did so, but upon the
individual returning for their next workout they were told they
needed to pay their monthly dues prior to engaging in their planned
workout. The reasoning was that since the account was
cancelled, at no fault of the member, the monthly fee was not
charged by the billing department and it needed to be paid now in
order to bring the account current. When the issue was raised
that why should the member be penalized by an administrative error
resulting in the inconvenience of having to deal with the fallout
from the incompetence of the employee the member was told that the
payment needed to be paid regardless. The member voiced
concern about the billing department double billing since they were
asking for payment and the billing department also possessed payment
information as well and the staff member (manager) continued arguing
that the member did not understand. When the member
communicated that they were a business owner, the response was
"Don't your employees make mistakes?" It was then communicated
by the member that if a mistake was made that the business would eat
the cost in an effort to take responsibility for their mistake.
This option was not made until the member threatened to cancel their
membership for real this time. The staff then said they would
waive the membership and the member still chose to communicate the
desire to cancel the account based on the principle rather than the
money itself. At that time another male staff member, skinny
as a toothpick, stated go pay more somewhere else that it didn't
matter to them.
The truth is that there is an
established gym in town that offers year long membership for $99 a
year with no signup fee of $30 as the other gym charges.
Just in case you are looking for
the invisible corporate number that can not be found easily just as
the corporate contact information itself can't it is: (603)
516-0361. However, do not expect to speak to anybody since
they have a reputation of not caring as shown in the links below.
